| Who is Bill Schroyer? Bill Schroyer is a career educator
who has spent thirty-five years helping teachers and administrators use
data to guide instructional decisions. Bill has a Ph.D. in Educational
Research and Measurement and is the owner and director of Schroyer
Psychometric Services, a consulting firm that works with schools to
conduct program and project evaluations. In 2001, Bill co-authored the
Disaggregated Data Reports© with Dr. Clif St. Germain. The rationale
for these data reports is simple: turn volumes of data into easily
understood and applied information that teachers, principals and
superintendents can use to support student learning.
Why Use Disaggregated Data?
All too often school districts spend a week during the spring testing
every child in school only to get results in formats that are both
difficult to interpret and even more difficult to use for instructional
planning. Disaggregated Data Reports© re-roster student test data into a
set of "At A Glance" charts that group students who share similar
academic characteristics and suggest best practice instructional
interventions for these learners.
For a more detailed description of these reports see Learning
Places chapter 3.
What Can You Learn from Disaggregated Data Reports©?
- Who are the students who might qualify for advanced placement
and/or gifted classes?
- Who are the students whose test scores are presently above
average?
- Who are the students who would profit most from limited
school-wide intervention to measurably improve their academic
performance?
- Who are the students with minimal knowledge of the subjects
tested who could benefit from intensive reading instruction and/or
basic mathematics support?
- Who are the students who might qualify for special needs
programs?
The Disaggregated Data Reports© provide answers to these questions
and much more. For each group identified, the reports also provide a
plan of action for each student and an accompanying chart to keep track
of each student's progress through the plan. It is an accountability
system to be used at any level within a district.
